Method

Cooking the Steak

  1. 1

    Prepare the Filet Mignon

Remove the filet mignon from the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for about 20 minutes before cooking. This helps it cook evenly.

  2. 2

    Season the Steak

Generously season both sides of the filet mignon with salt and black pepper.

  3. 3

    Cook the Steak

Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add 1 tablespoon of butter or oil. Once hot, add the filet mignon and sear for about 3-4 minutes on each side for medium-rare (adjust time for desired doneness). Remove from heat, cover, and let rest for 5 minutes before slicing.

Cooking the Eggs and Hash Browns

  1. 4

    Cook the Hash Browns

In the same skillet used for the steak (add more butter or oil if needed), add 1 cup of hash browns. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until golden brown and crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

  2. 5

    Prepare the Eggs

In a separate non-stick skillet, heat a small amount of butter or oil over medium heat. Crack the eggs into the skillet and cook them 'your way' (sunny-side-up, over-easy, scrambled, etc.). Cooking time will vary based on your preference, approximately 2-4 minutes.

Plating

  1. 6

    Serve the Dish

On a plate, arrange the sliced filet mignon, the cooked eggs, and the crispy hash browns. Enjoy your steak and eggs!
