Sandwich Base

Mashed Potatoes

Method

Preparation of Mashed Potatoes

  1. 1

    Prepare Potatoes

Peel and chop the potatoes into evenly sized chunks. Place them in a large pot and cover with cold water.

  2. 2

    Cook Potatoes

Bring the pot of water to a boil over high heat. Once boiling, reduce to a simmer and cook for about 15-20 minutes, or until potatoes are fork-tender.

  3. 3

    Mash Potatoes

Drain the cooked potatoes and return them to the pot. Add butter, milk, salt, and pepper. Mash until smooth and creamy.

Assembling the Sandwich

  1. 4

    Toast Bread

Lightly toast the slices of bread until golden brown.

  2. 5

    Layer Meat

On each slice of toasted bread, layer 2 oz of sliced turkey or roast beef.

  3. 6

    Add Mashed Potatoes

Top the meat with a generous scoop of mashed potatoes.

  4. 7

    Pour Gravy

Heat the gravy in a saucepan over medium heat until warm. Pour the gravy over the mashed potatoes.

Cooking the Vegetables

  1. 8

    Prepare Vegetables

Wash and trim the vegetable of the day (e.g., green beans or broccoli).

  2. 9

    Cook Vegetables

Steam or boil the vegetables until tender, about 5-7 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
