Filet Mignon

Sides (optional)

Method

Preparing the Filet Mignon

  1. 1

    Seasoning the Steak

Sprinkle the salt and black pepper evenly over both sides of the filet mignon. Use your hands to gently press the seasoning into the meat.

  2. 2

    Heating the Pan

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat until it shimmers.

  3. 3

    Cooking the Steak

Place the filet mignon in the hot skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side without moving it, until it develops a nice crust. Flip the steak and cook for another 4-5 minutes for medium-rare.

  4. 4

    Adding Flavor

In the last minute of cooking, add the fresh rosemary to the skillet, spooning some of the olive oil over the steak to infuse it with flavor.

  5. 5

    Resting the Steak

Remove the filet mignon from the skillet and let it rest on a cutting board for 5 minutes before slicing.

Preparing the Sides (Optional)

  1. 6

    Preparing the Asparagus

Trim the ends of the asparagus and set aside.

  2. 7

    Sautéing Garlic and Asparagus

In the same skillet used for the steak, add butter and minced garlic over medium heat. Once the garlic is fragrant, add the asparagus and sauté for about 5-7 minutes until tender.

  3. 8

    Serving

Plate the filet mignon alongside the sautéed asparagus and enjoy your meal!
