Method

Prepare the Burger Patty

1

Mix the Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, combine 0.5 pounds of ground beef, 0.5 tsp of salt, 0.25 tsp of black pepper, and 0.5 tsp of garlic powder. Mix gently until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.

2

Shape the Patty

Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape each into a round patty about 3/4 inch thick.

3

Chill the Patties

Refrigerate the patties for about 15 minutes to help them hold their shape during cooking.

Cook the Burger Patty

4

Heat the Grill or Pan

Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat for about 5 minutes.

5

Cook the Patties

Cook the patties on the grill or in the skillet for about 4-5 minutes on one side. Flip the patties and cook for another 4-5 minutes, or until they reach an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C).

6

Add Cheese

During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty and cover to melt.

Assemble the Burger

7

Prepare the Bun

While the patty is cooking, slice the burger bun in half and toast it lightly on the grill or in a toaster.

8

Add Toppings

On the bottom half of the toasted bun, layer the leaf of lettuce, slice of tomato, onion slices, and the cooked patty topped with melted cheese. Add ketchup and mustard as desired.

9

Complete the Burger

Place the top half of the bun over the assembled burger and press gently. Serve immediately.
