Preparation

Prepare the Ingredients

Gather all the ingredients: rye bread, Thousand Island dressing, sauerkraut, corned beef, Swiss cheese, and butter.

Spread the Dressing

Take 2 slices of rye bread and spread 1 tablespoon of Thousand Island dressing on each slice.

Add Sauerkraut

On one of the slices with dressing, add 1/2 cup of sauerkraut evenly over the dressing.

Layer the Corned Beef

Place 4 oz of sliced corned beef over the sauerkraut.

Add Cheese

Place a slice of Swiss cheese on top of the corned beef.

Top the Sandwich

Spread 1 tablespoon of Thousand Island dressing on another slice of rye bread and place it on top of the Swiss cheese.

Butter the Bread

Spread 1 tablespoon of butter on the outside of each sandwich.

Grill the Sandwich

Heat a skillet over medium heat. Place the sandwich in the skillet and grill for about 4-5 minutes until the bread is golden brown.

Flip the Sandwich

Carefully flip the sandwich and grill the other side for another 4-5 minutes until golden brown and the cheese is melted.

Serving

Slice and Serve

Remove the sandwich from the skillet, let it cool for a minute, then slice in half and serve immediately.
