Cake Ingredients

Method

Cake Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, sift together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

  3. 3

    Add Wet Ingredients

Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes. Stir in boiling water until combined.

  4. 4

    Bake the Cake

Pour the batter evenly into the prepared pans. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

  5. 5

    Cool and Prepare

Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then remove from pans and cool completely on wire racks.

  6. 6

    Prepare Chocolate Streusel

In a bowl, mix 0.5 cups all-purpose flour, 0.5 cups cocoa powder, 0.5 cups brown sugar, and 0.25 cups cold butter until crumbly. Sprinkle over the cake before baking.

  7. 7

    Whip Cream

In a chilled bowl, beat 1 cup of heavy cream with 2 tablespoons powdered sugar and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract until soft peaks form.

  8. 8

    Assemble the Cake

Layer the cooled cakes, adding chocolate streusel in between. Top with whipped cream and garnish with fresh raspberries.
