Baking Instructions
- 1
Prepare the Pineapple
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Cut the Maui Gold pineapple in half, remove the core, and slice it into rings.
- 2
Caramel Base
In a round cake pan, melt the butter over low heat. Once melted, sprinkle the brown sugar evenly over the butter to create a caramel layer. Arrange the pineapple rings on top of the caramel.
- 3
Make the Batter
In a mixing bowl, cream together the granulated sugar and remaining butter until light and fluffy. Add the eggs, vanilla extract, and milk, mixing until well combined.
- 4
Combine Dry Ingredients
In another bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
- 5
Bake the Cake
Pour the batter over the arranged pineapple in the cake pan. Bake for 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- 6
Cool and Serve
Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before inverting it onto a serving plate. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream and drizzle with caramel sauce.
