Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Octopus

Rinse the fresh octopus under cold water. Remove the beak and ink sac if not already done. Pat dry with paper towels.

  2. 2

    Tenderize the Octopus

To tenderize the octopus, you can freeze it for a few hours or pound it lightly with a meat tenderizer.

  3. 3

    Cook the Octopus

In a large pot, bring water to a boil. Add the octopus and cook for about 45 minutes or until tender. You can check by piercing the thickest part with a fork. Drain and set aside.

  4. 4

    Sauté the Octopus

In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant. Cut the octopus into tentacles and add to the skillet. Cook for 5-7 minutes until slightly crispy.

  5. 5

    Season

Add salt, black pepper, and paprika to the skillet. Squeeze the juice of one lemon over the octopus and toss to coat.

  6. 6

    Garnish and Serve

Chop fresh parsley and sprinkle over the octopus before serving. Enjoy it warm with additional lemon wedges on the side.
