Maki Ingredients

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Sushi Rice

Rinse the sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Cook the rice according to package instructions. Once cooked, let it cool slightly and mix in rice vinegar.

  2. 2

Make the Spicy Sesame Butter Sauce

In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Add sesame oil, sriracha, soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, and minced garlic. Stir until well combined and heated through. Remove from heat and mix in sliced green onions.

  3. 3

    Assemble the Maki

On a bamboo sushi mat, place a nori sheet shiny side down. Wet your hands and spread a thin layer of sushi rice over the nori, leaving about 1 inch at the top. Place a line of cucumber, avocado, crab meat, and chopped macadamia nuts along the bottom edge. Roll the sushi tightly from the bottom, using the mat to help shape it. Seal the edge with a little water.

  4. 4

    Slice and Serve

Using a sharp knife, slice the rolled sushi into bite-sized pieces. Drizzle with the Spicy Sesame Butter Sauce and sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds before serving.
