Crispy Pork Belly Ingredients

Method

Directions for Crispy Pork Belly

  1. 1

    Prepare the Pork Belly

Score the skin of the pork belly in a crosshatch pattern, being careful not to cut into the meat. This will help it become crispy.

  2. 2

    Season the Pork Belly

Rub the pork belly with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. Ensure the seasoning gets into the scored skin. Let it sit at room temperature for at least 30 minutes.

  3. 3

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C).

  4. 4

    Prepare the Baking Dish

In a baking dish, combine the apple cider vinegar and water. Place a wire rack in the dish and place the pork belly on top, skin-side up.

  5. 5

    Roast the Pork Belly

Drizzle olive oil over the pork belly and roast in the preheated oven for about 30 minutes, or until the skin starts to bubble and crisp up.

  6. 6

    Reduce Heat

Lower the oven temperature to 300°F (150°C) and continue roasting for an additional 1.5 hours, until the meat is tender.

  7. 7

    Crisp the Skin

Increase the oven temperature back to 450°F (230°C) and roast for an additional 15-20 minutes until the skin is crispy and golden brown.

  8. 8

    Rest and Serve

Remove from the oven and let the pork belly rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing. Serve warm.
