Our homemade lasagna has become a “hot” item to take home. The pasta is handmade. Each layer is paper-thin. The sauce is a family recipe made fresh daily. This dish is a meal in itself, or it’s the perfect complement to any meat or salad of your choice.

In a large bowl, combine flour and salt. Create a well in the center and add eggs and olive oil. Gradually mix the flour into the eggs until a dough forms. Knead the dough on a floured surface until smooth. Cover with plastic wrap and let it rest for 30 minutes.

Make the Pasta

In a skillet, brown the ground beef or sausage over medium heat. Drain any excess fat. Stir in marinara sauce and let simmer for 10 minutes. In a separate bowl, mix ricotta cheese, half of the grated Parmesan, and black pepper.

Prepare the Filling

Divide the rested dough into 4 pieces. Roll out each piece into thin sheets (about 1/16 inch thick) using a pasta machine or rolling pin. Cut into sheets that fit your baking dish.

Roll Out the Pasta

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Spread some marinara sauce on the bottom of a baking dish. Layer pasta sheets, ricotta mixture, meat sauce, mozzarella, and a sprinkle of basil. Repeat layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with a layer of pasta and marinara sauce topped with mozzarella and the remaining Parmesan.

Assemble the Lasagna

Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and golden. Let it cool for 10 minutes before serving.
