Meatballs
Method
Preparation
Make the Meatballs
In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, chopped basil, minced garlic, bread crumbs, egg, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are incorporated.
Form the mixture into meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter.
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the meatballs and cook until browned on all sides, about 8-10 minutes. Remove and set aside.
Add minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.
Pour in the crushed tomatoes, season with salt and black pepper, and let simmer for 10 minutes.
Add the cooked meatballs to the sauce and let them simmer together for another 10 minutes.
Serve
Serve the meatballs and sauce over toasted ciabatta, garnished with torn basil and grated Grana Padano.
