Focaccia Ingredients
Method
Focaccia Directions
Prepare the Dough
In a large bowl, combine warm water and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy. Add the flour, salt, and 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Mix until a sticky dough forms.
Knead the Dough
Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. If the dough is too sticky, add a little more flour as needed.
First Rise
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
Prepare for Baking
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Once the dough has risen, punch it down and transfer it to a greased baking sheet. Stretch it out to fit the sheet, creating dimples with your fingers.
Second Rise
Cover the dough again and let it rise for another 20-30 minutes.
Add Toppings
Drizzle the remaining olive oil over the top, sprinkle with fresh rosemary and coarse sea salt.
Bake
Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through. Let cool slightly before slicing.
