Method

Prepare the Waffle Batter

  1. 1

    Combine Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until evenly mixed.

  2. 2

    Combine Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, eggs, melted unsalted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth.

  3. 3

    Mix Wet and Dry Ingredients

Pour the wet mixture into the dry mixture and stir gently until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; lumps are okay.

Cook the Waffles

  1. 4

    Preheat the Waffle Iron

Preheat your waffle iron according to the manufacturer’s instructions until hot.

  2. 5

    Grease the Waffle Iron

Lightly spray or brush the waffle iron with a small amount of cooking oil or melted butter to prevent sticking.

  3. 6

    Pour the Batter

Pour enough batter into the waffle iron to cover the surface, usually about 1/2 to 3/4 cup depending on the size of your waffle iron.

  4. 7

    Cook the Waffles

Close the lid and cook for about 4-5 minutes or until the waffles are golden brown and crisp. Cooking time may vary by waffle iron.

  5. 8

    Remove the Waffles

Carefully remove the waffles from the iron and place them on a cooling rack or plate. Repeat with the remaining batter.

Serve the Waffles

  1. 9

    Add Toppings

Top the waffles with a pat of butter, a dusting of powdered sugar, and drizzle with maple syrup according to your taste.

  2. 10

    Enjoy

Serve warm and enjoy your delicious buttermilk waffles!
