Chicken Tenders

Waffles

Whiskey Butterscotch Sauce

Method

Preparing Chicken Tenders

  1. 1

    Marinate Chicken

In a bowl, mix buttermilk, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Add the chicken breast tenders and marinate for at least 30 minutes.

  2. 2

    Prepare Breading

In a separate bowl, combine all-purpose flour and cornstarch. Set aside.

  3. 3

    Bread the Chicken

After marinating, take each tender, shake off excess buttermilk, and dredge in the flour-cornstarch mixture until fully coated.

  4. 4

    Fry the Chicken

In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Fry the chicken tenders in batches for about 5-7 minutes on each side or until golden brown and cooked through. Drain on paper towels.

Making Waffles

  1. 5

    Combine Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.

  2. 6

    Mix Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, beat the eggs and then mix in buttermilk and melted butter.

  3. 7

    Prepare Waffle Batter

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.

  4. 8

    Cook Waffles

Preheat your waffle iron and cook the batter according to the manufacturer's instructions until golden brown.

Making Whiskey Butterscotch Sauce

  1. 9

    Combine Ingredients

In a small saucepan, combine butterscotch schnapps, Irish whiskey, brown sugar, heavy cream, and a pinch of salt.

  2. 10

    Heat the Sauce

Heat over medium heat, stirring constantly until the sugar has dissolved and the sauce is smooth. Bring to a gentle simmer and cook for another 2-3 minutes.

  3. 11

    Serve Sauce

Remove from heat and let cool slightly before serving over chicken and waffles.
