Green Beans Tempura
Method
Preparation and Cooking
- 1
Prepare the Green Beans
Wash and trim the ends of the green beans. Pat them dry with a paper towel.
- 2
Make the Tempura Batter
In a bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, and ice water until smooth. The batter should be light and slightly thick.
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a deep frying pan or pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 4
Batter and Fry the Green Beans
Dip the green beans into the tempura batter, coating them lightly. Carefully drop them into the hot oil in batches. Fry until golden and crispy, about 3-4 minutes. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- 5
Season with Dry Rub
While the green beans are still hot, toss them in the house dry rub until well coated.
- 6
Serve
Plate the fried green beans and serve with a side of spicy mayo for dipping.
