Method

Preparation Instructions

  1. 1

    Cook the Sushi Rice

Rinse the sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Cook the rice according to the package instructions. Once cooked, allow it to cool slightly.

  2. 2

    Season the Rice

In a small bowl, mix the rice vinegar, sugar, and salt until dissolved. Gently fold this mixture into the cooked sushi rice using a spatula. Allow the rice to cool to room temperature.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Cucumber

Wash the cucumber and cut it into thin strips, removing the seeds if necessary.

  4. 4

    Assemble the Sushi Roll

Place a sheet of nori on a bamboo sushi mat, shiny side down. Wet your hands to prevent sticking and spread a thin layer of sushi rice over the nori, leaving a small border at the top. Place a few strips of cucumber in the center of the rice.

  5. 5

    Roll the Sushi

Using the bamboo mat, carefully roll the nori away from you, pressing gently to form a tight roll. Seal the edge of the nori with a little water.

  6. 6

    Slice and Serve

Using a sharp knife, slice the roll into 5 equal pieces. Serve with soy sauce, wasabi, and pickled ginger on the side.
