Method

Eel Preparation

1

Prepare the eel

In a small bowl, mix soy sauce, mirin, sake, sugar, and sesame oil. Marinate the eel fillets in this mixture for about 30 minutes.

2

Cook the eel

Preheat a grill or broiler. Grill the eel for about 5-7 minutes on each side until cooked through and slightly caramelized. Set aside.

California Roll Preparation

3

Prepare sushi rice

Rinse sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Cook rice with 1 cup of water according to package instructions. Once cooked, mix in rice vinegar, sugar, and salt.

4

Assemble the rolls

Lay out a nori sheet on a bamboo mat. Spread an even layer of sushi rice on top, leaving an edge. Place crab meat, avocado slices, and cucumber sticks in the center. Roll tightly and slice into pieces.

Egg Roll Preparation

5

Prepare filling

In a large bowl, mix shredded cabbage, grated carrot, chopped green onions, and soy sauce. Place a spoonful of filling in the center of each egg roll wrapper, fold and seal.

6

Fry the egg rolls

Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan over medium-high heat. Fry egg rolls until golden brown and crispy, about 3-5 minutes per side. Drain on paper towels.

Steamed Rice Preparation

7

Cook the rice

In a pot, combine white rice, water, and salt. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 18-20 minutes until rice is tender and water is absorbed.
