Ice Cream Tempura Ingredients
Method
Instructions
- 1
Prepare the Ice Cream Balls
Scoop the vanilla ice cream into balls using an ice cream scoop. Place the scoops onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and freeze for at least 1 hour until firm.
- 2
Make the Tempura Batter
In a mixing bowl, combine the tempura batter mix and ice cold water. Stir until just combined; do not overmix. The batter should be slightly lumpy.
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a large, deep frying pan or pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 4
Batter the Ice Cream
Remove the ice cream balls from the freezer. Dip each ball into the tempura batter, ensuring it is fully coated.
- 5
Fry the Ice Cream
Carefully place the battered ice cream balls into the hot oil, frying a few at a time. Fry for 15-30 seconds or until the batter is golden brown. Use a slotted spoon to remove them from the oil and drain on paper towels.
- 6
Serve
Dust the fried ice cream with powdered sugar and serve immediately with chocolate sauce and chopped nuts, if desired.
