Fried Oysters

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Oysters

Rinse the oysters under cold water and pat them dry with a paper towel.

  2. 2

    Create the Breading

In a shallow dish, combine flour, cornmeal, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.

  3. 3

    Prepare Wet Mixture

In another bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk until fully combined.

  4. 4

    Bread the Oysters

Dip each oyster into the wet mixture, allowing excess to drip off, then dredge in the dry mixture until evenly coated.

  5. 5

    Heat the Oil

In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  6. 6

    Fry the Oysters

Carefully add the breaded oysters to the hot oil in batches, frying for 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels.

  7. 7

    Serve

Serve the fried oysters hot with rooster sauce and house remoulade sauce on the side.
