Burger Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Mixture

In a large bowl, mash the black beans with a fork or potato masher until mostly smooth. Add the cooked quinoa, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, minced garlic, cumin, salt, black pepper, and beaten egg. Mix until well combined.

  2. 2

    Form the Patties

Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each portion into a patty.

  3. 3

    Cook the Patties

Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Add a little oil if desired. Cook the patties for about 5-6 minutes on each side or until they are golden brown and heated through.

  4. 4

    Melt the Cheese

During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty and cover the skillet to melt the cheese.

  5. 5

    Assemble the Burgers

Toast the brioche buns if desired. Place each patty on a bun and add your favorite toppings and sauces to fully dress the burger.
