Cooking Instructions
Prepare the Ingredients
Chop the fresh tomatoes and garlic. Tear the basil leaves into smaller pieces.
Cook the Spaghetti
In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water, then drain the spaghetti.
Make the Pomodoro Sauce
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant but not browned. Add the chopped tomatoes and salt. Cook for about 10-15 minutes until the tomatoes break down and become saucy.
Combine Spaghetti and Sauce
Add the cooked spaghetti to the skillet with the pomodoro sauce. Toss to combine, adding reserved pasta water as needed to achieve desired consistency. Stir in the fresh basil and season with black pepper.
Serve
Serve the spaghetti hot, garnished with additional basil leaves and grated Parmesan cheese if desired.
