Method
Cake Preparation
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
Cream Butter and Sugar
In another bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy. This should take about 3-5 minutes.
Bake the Cake
Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Cool the Cakes
Remove the cakes from the oven and allow them to cool in the pans for 10 minutes. Then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Frosting Preparation
Make the Frosting
In a large bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar, alternating with heavy cream, and beat until smooth and fluffy.
Add Vanilla and Color
Stir in the vanilla extract and food coloring if desired. Mix until the color is uniform.
Assembly and Decoration
Frost the Cake
Once the cakes are completely cool, place one layer on a serving plate. Spread a layer of frosting on top, then place the second cake on top and frost the top and sides.
Decorate
Add birthday candles and sprinkles on top of the frosted cake. Optionally, arrange fresh fruits around the sides or on top.
Serve and Celebrate
Slice the cake and serve it to your friends and family. Enjoy the celebration!
