Method
Preparation Steps
- 1
Prepare the Dough
In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, salt, and sugar. Cut in the unsalted butter and cream cheese until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add vanilla extract and mix until a dough forms. Shape the dough into a disk, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
- 2
Prepare the Filling
In another bowl, mix together the powdered sugar, ground cinnamon, and chopped nuts (if using) until well combined.
- 3
Roll Out the Dough
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). On a floured surface, roll out the chilled dough into a large circle about 1/8 inch thick. Cut the dough into 8 equal wedges.
- 4
Assemble the Crescent Moons
Place a tablespoon of the filling at the wide end of each wedge. Roll up each wedge starting from the wide end and shape them into crescent moons. Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- 5
Bake
Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly.
- 6
Serve
Dust with additional powdered sugar before serving. Enjoy your Crescent Moons warm!
