Ingredients for Gritty's Brew Pub Ale

Method

Brewing Instructions

  1. 1

    Step 1: Prepare the Mash

In a large brew kettle, heat 5 liters of water to 165°F (74°C). Add the pale malt and crystal malt to the water and stir well. Maintain the temperature at around 152°F (67°C) for 60 minutes.

  2. 2

    Step 2: Sparging

After 60 minutes, carefully drain the liquid (wort) from the grains into a fermentation vessel. Rinse the grains with an additional 2 liters of hot water to extract more sugars.

  3. 3

    Step 3: Boil the Wort

Bring the wort to a boil and add the Cascade hops. Boil for 60 minutes, adding the Centennial hops in the last 10 minutes of the boil.

  4. 4

    Step 4: Cool the Wort

After boiling, cool the wort quickly using an immersion chiller or by placing the kettle in an ice bath until it reaches around 70°F (21°C).

  5. 5

    Step 5: Fermentation

Transfer the cooled wort to a sanitized fermentation vessel. Sprinkle the yeast on top and seal with an airlock. Allow it to ferment in a cool, dark place for 1-2 weeks.

  6. 6

    Step 6: Bottling

Once fermentation is complete, dissolve the priming sugar in a small amount of water and add it to the beer. Bottle the beer in sanitized bottles and cap them. Let them carbonate for an additional week.

  7. 7

    Step 7: Enjoy

Chill the bottles in the fridge, pour into a glass, and enjoy your homemade Gritty's Brew Pub Ale!
