Prepare the Ice Cream Base
In a large bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, whole milk, sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until the sugar is dissolved. For chocolate soft-serve, whisk in the cocoa powder until fully incorporated.

Chill the Mixture
Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate the mixture for at least 2 hours, or until it's thoroughly chilled.

Churn the Ice Cream
Pour the chilled mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer’s instructions until it reaches a soft-serve consistency.

Serve
Scoop the soft-serve ice cream into cones or bowls. For a swirl, alternate scoops of chocolate and vanilla ice cream.
