Brew Espresso
Prepare your espresso machine according to the manufacturer's instructions. Use freshly ground coffee beans and tamp them evenly into the portafilter. Brew 2 shots of espresso.

Heat Water
While the espresso is brewing, heat 6 oz of water to just below boiling, around 200°F (93°C). This can be done using an electric kettle or on the stovetop.

Combine Ingredients
In a coffee cup, pour the 2 shots of brewed espresso. Slowly add the hot water over the espresso to create the Americano.

Stir gently to combine, and serve immediately. You can adjust the strength by adding more or less water to taste.
