Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Marinade

In a bowl, mix olive oil, soy sauce, minced garlic, ground black pepper, and salt. Marinate the flank steak in this mixture for at least 30 minutes.

  2. 2

    Cook the Rice

In a pot, cook the rice according to package instructions. Set aside when done.

  3. 3

    Cook the Beans

In a small pot, heat the black beans until warm. Season with salt to taste and set aside.

  4. 4

    Prepare the Plantains

Peel and slice the sweet plantains diagonally. In a frying pan, heat oil and fry the plantain slices until they are golden brown on both sides. Remove and set aside.

  5. 5

    Grill the Steak

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Remove the steak from the marinade and grill for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until desired doneness. Let the steak rest for a few minutes.

  6. 6

    Cook the Onions

In the same skillet, add sliced onions and sauté until they are soft and caramelized, about 5-7 minutes.

  7. 7

    Serve

Slice the grilled steak and serve it topped with the caramelized onions alongside the rice, black beans, and fried sweet plantains.
