Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Steak

Season the steak with salt and pepper. Heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the steak for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until desired doneness. Remove from the skillet and let it rest before slicing.

  2. 2

    Scramble the Eggs

In a bowl, whisk the eggs with a pinch of salt and pepper. In the same skillet, add 1 tablespoon of butter and reduce the heat to medium. Pour in the eggs and scramble gently until just set. Remove from heat.

  3. 3

    Fry the Plantains

Peel and slice the sweet plantains diagonally. In a separate skillet, heat the remaining vegetable oil over medium heat. Fry the plantain slices for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels.

  4. 4

    Make the Corn Cake

In a bowl, mix the cornmeal, water, and a pinch of salt until combined. In a small skillet, melt the remaining butter over medium heat. Pour the cornmeal mixture into the skillet and cook for about 5-7 minutes on each side until golden brown.

  5. 5

    Combine Rice and Beans

In a pot, combine the cooked rice and black beans. Heat over medium-low until warmed through. Add salt to taste.

  6. 6

    Serve

On a plate, serve the rice and beans topped with scrambled eggs, sliced steak, fried plantains, and a piece of corn cake on the side.
