Buñuelo Ingredients

Method

Buñuelo Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Dough

In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. Mix well.

  2. 2

    Add Cheese and Wet Ingredients

Stir in the grated cheese, milk, and beaten egg until a soft dough forms. It should be slightly sticky but manageable.

  3. 3

    Heat the Oil

In a deep skillet or pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  4. 4

    Shape and Fry the Buñuelos

Using your hands, shape the dough into small balls or discs (about the size of a golf ball). Carefully drop them into the hot oil, a few at a time, making sure not to overcrowd the pan.

  5. 5

    Fry Until Golden

Fry the buñuelos for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until they are golden brown and cooked through. Use a slotted spoon to remove them from the oil and drain on paper towels.

  6. 6

    Serve

Serve warm, optionally with a sprinkle of powdered sugar or your favorite dipping sauce.
