Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Rice

In a pot, bring 2 cups of water to a boil. Add 1 cup of white rice and a pinch of salt. Stir, cover, and let it simmer on low heat for about 20 minutes until the rice is cooked.

  2. 2

    Cook the Beans

If using canned black beans, simply heat them in a saucepan. If using dry beans, soak them overnight and then cook until tender, about 1-2 hours.

  3. 3

    Grill the Steak

Season the steak with salt and grill it on medium-high heat for about 5-7 minutes on each side or until it reaches your desired doneness. Let it rest before slicing.

  4. 4

    Fry the Pork

Cut the pork into small pieces and fry them in a pan over medium heat until crispy, about 8-10 minutes. Drain on paper towels.

  5. 5

    Fry the Plantains

Peel the sweet plantains and slice them diagonally. Fry them in oil over medium heat until golden brown and caramelized, about 3-4 minutes per side.

  6. 6

    Cook the Eggs

In a separate pan, fry the eggs to your liking (sunny-side up or scrambled) in a little oil.

  7. 7

    Make Arepas

In a bowl, mix the corn flour, water, and salt to form a dough. Divide into small balls and flatten them. Cook the arepas on a hot skillet for about 5-7 minutes on each side until golden.

  8. 8

    Assemble the Bandejita

On a large plate, serve a portion of rice, black beans, grilled steak, fried pork, fried plantains, a fried egg, sliced avocado, and arepas. Enjoy!
