Method
Preparation
- 1
Cut the Corn Tortillas
Stack the corn tortillas and cut them into 6 triangular wedges using a sharp knife or pizza cutter.
- 2
Heat the Oil
In a large, deep skillet or frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). You can test if the oil is ready by dropping in a small piece of tortilla; if it sizzles, the oil is hot enough.
Frying the Chips
- 3
Fry the Tortilla Wedges
Carefully add a handful of tortilla wedges to the hot oil, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan. Fry them for about 2-3 minutes or until they are golden brown and crispy.
- 4
Remove and Drain
Using a slotted spoon, remove the fried tortilla chips from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
Seasoning
- 5
Season the Chips
While the chips are still hot, sprinkle them with salt and any optional seasonings like chili powder, garlic powder, or cumin according to your taste.
