Churro Dough

Cinnamon Sugar Coating

Method

Prepare the Churro Dough

  1. 1

    Combine Ingredients

In a medium saucepan, combine water, unsalted butter, granulated sugar, and salt. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat.

  2. 2

    Add Flour

Once boiling, remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the all-purpose flour until the mixture forms a ball and pulls away from the sides of the pan.

  3. 3

    Incorporate Eggs

Let the dough cool for a few minutes, then add the eggs one at a time, mixing thoroughly after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract until well combined.

Make Cinnamon Sugar Coating

  1. 4

    Combine Sugar and Cinnamon

In a shallow bowl, mix granulated sugar and ground cinnamon until evenly combined. Set aside.

Fry the Churros

  1. 5

    Heat Oil

In a large, deep pot, heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). You can check the temperature with a thermometer or by frying a small piece of dough.

  2. 6

    Pipe Churros

Transfer the churro dough to a piping bag fitted with a large star tip. Carefully pipe strips of dough (about 6 inches long) into the hot oil.

  3. 7

    Fry Until Golden

Fry the churros in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pot. Cook until they are golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.

  4. 8

    Drain and Coat

Remove the churros from the oil and drain on paper towels. While they are still warm, roll them in the cinnamon sugar mixture until fully coated.

Serve

  1. 9

    Enjoy

Serve the churros warm with a side of chocolate sauce or dulce de leche for dipping, if desired.
