Rib-Eye Steak

Method

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Steak

Take the rib-eye steak out of the refrigerator and let it rest at room temperature for about 30 minutes before cooking.

  2. 2

    Season the Steak

Rub both sides of the steak with olive oil, then season generously with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and fresh rosemary.

  3. 3

    Preheat the Pan

Heat a cast-iron skillet or heavy pan over high heat until it's very hot.

  4. 4

    Cook the Steak

Place the rib-eye steak in the hot skillet and sear for about 4-5 minutes on one side without moving it, until a nice crust forms.

  5. 5

    Flip and Add Butter

Flip the steak over and add the butter to the pan. Baste the steak with the melted butter while cooking for an additional 4-5 minutes for medium-rare.

  6. 6

    Check for Doneness

Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature. For medium-rare, aim for 130°F (54°C).

  7. 7

    Rest the Steak

Remove the steak from the skillet and let it rest on a cutting board for about 5-10 minutes before slicing.

  8. 8

    Serve

Slice the rib-eye steak across the grain and serve immediately.
