Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Sauté the vegetables

In a large saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and green bell pepper. Sauté until the onion becomes translucent, about 5 minutes.

  2. 2

    Add garlic

Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.

  3. 3

    Toast the rice

Add the long-grain rice to the saucepan and stir to coat the rice with the oil and vegetables. Cook for 2-3 minutes until the rice is slightly toasted.

  4. 4

    Add liquids and spices

Pour in the vegetable broth and add the turmeric powder, salt, and black pepper. Stir well to combine.

  5. 5

    Cook the rice

Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low, cover the saucepan, and let it simmer for about 20 minutes or until the rice is cooked and the liquid is absorbed.

  6. 6

    Add peas

In the last 5 minutes of cooking, add the peas to the rice and stir gently to combine.

  7. 7

    Fluff and serve

Once the rice is done cooking, remove it from heat and let it sit covered for 5 minutes. Fluff the rice with a fork and serve warm.
