Mojito Base

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Muddle the Mint

In a sturdy glass or cocktail shaker, add the fresh mint leaves and granulated sugar. Use a muddler or the back of a spoon to gently press down on the mint leaves. This releases the oils and flavor of the mint.

  2. 2

    Add Lime Juice

Cut the lime in half and squeeze the juice from both halves into the glass. You can also cut one of the halves into wedges and add it to the glass for extra flavor.

  3. 3

    Mix with Ice

Add the ice cubes to the glass, filling it to about three-quarters full.

  4. 4

    Pour in Soda Water

Slowly pour the soda water over the ice and mint-lime mixture, filling the glass to the top.

  5. 5

    Garnish and Serve

Stir gently to combine all ingredients. Optionally, garnish with an additional sprig of mint and a lime wedge on the rim of the glass. Serve immediately.
