Method

Meatballs Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Meatball Mixture

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, black pepper, and ground cumin. Mix well until fully combined.

  2. 2

    Form the Meatballs

Using your hands, shape the mixture into meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter. Place them on a plate and set aside.

Cooking the Meatballs

  1. 3

    Brown the Meatballs

In a large skillet over medium heat, add a bit of olive oil. Once hot, add the meatballs in batches, being careful not to overcrowd the skillet. Cook until browned on all sides, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from skillet and set aside.

Sauce Preparation

  1. 4

    Prepare the Sauce

In the same skillet, add 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic. Sauté until the onion is translucent, about 5 minutes.

  2. 5

    Add Tomatoes and Seasoning

Stir in the crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, salt, black pepper, and sugar. Bring to a simmer.

Final Cooking

  1. 6

    Combine Meatballs and Sauce

Carefully add the browned meatballs back into the skillet with the sauce. Cover and let simmer for 20 minutes to allow flavors to meld.

  2. 7

    Serve

Once cooked through, serve the albóndigas with the sauce over rice or pasta, and enjoy!
