Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Bread

Slice the rustic bread into thick slices, about 1 inch each. Toast or grill the slices until golden and crispy on both sides.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Tomatoes

Cut the ripe tomatoes in half and grate them using a box grater to collect the pulp, discarding the skins. Alternatively, you can finely chop the tomatoes.

  3. 3

    Flavor the Tomato Pulp

In a bowl, mix the grated tomatoes with a pinch of sea salt and a tablespoon of olive oil. Adjust seasoning as desired.

  4. 4

    Add Garlic

Peel the garlic clove and cut it in half. Rub the cut side of the garlic on the toasted bread slices for a subtle garlic flavor.

  5. 5

    Top the Bread

Spoon the tomato mixture generously onto each slice of toasted bread.

  6. 6

    Drizzle with Olive Oil

Drizzle the remaining olive oil over each slice of bread topped with tomato.

  7. 7

    Garnish (Optional)

If desired, garnish with fresh basil leaves for added flavor.

  8. 8

    Serve

Serve immediately while the bread is still warm.
