Stuffing
Method
Preparing the Turkey
- 1
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
- 2
Prep the Turkey
Remove the turkey from its packaging, and pat it dry with paper towels. Ensure the cavity is empty.
- 3
- 4
Truss the Turkey
Tie the legs together with kitchen twine and tuck the wing tips under the body to prevent burning.
Preparing the Stuffing
- 5
Sauté Vegetables
In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add chopped onion and celery, and sauté until softened, about 5-7 minutes.
- 6
Combine Stuffing Ingredients
In a large bowl, combine the sautéed vegetables with bread cubes, beaten eggs, chicken broth, salt, black pepper, dried thyme, and dried sage. Mix well.
- 7
Stuff the Turkey
Fill the turkey cavity with the stuffing mixture, but do not overpack.
Roasting the Turkey
- 8
Place in Oven
Place the stuffed turkey breast-side up on a rack in a roasting pan.
- 9
Roast the Turkey
Roast the turkey in the preheated oven for about 13-15 minutes per pound, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) in the thickest part of the thigh.
- 10
Rest the Turkey
Once cooked, remove the turkey from the oven and let it rest for at least 20-30 minutes before carving.
