Method

Preparation

1

Prepare the Bread

Cut the French bread into 1-inch cubes and set aside in a large mixing bowl.

2

Cook the Sausage

In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the ground pork sausage and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula (about 5-7 minutes).

3

Add Vegetables

Add the diced onion, celery, and minced garlic to the skillet. Sauté until the vegetables are soft and the onion is translucent (about 5 minutes).

4

Season the Mixture

Stir in the chopped sage, thyme, salt, and black pepper. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

Assembly

5

Combine Ingredients

In the bowl with the bread cubes, pour the sausage and vegetable mixture. Toss gently to combine.

6

Add Liquids

In a separate bowl, whisk together the chicken broth and beaten eggs. Pour this mixture over the bread and sausage mixture, making sure all the bread is soaked.

Baking

7

Transfer to Baking Dish

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Transfer the stuffing mixture to a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, spreading it evenly.

8

Bake

Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until the top is golden brown.
