Method

Preparation

1

Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) to ensure it's hot enough for baking the cornbread.

2

Prepare the Baking Dish

Grease an 8-inch round baking dish or cast iron skillet with butter to prevent the cornbread from sticking.

Mixing

3

Combine Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together cornmeal, all-purpose flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt until well combined.

4

Whisk Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, and melted butter until smooth.

5

Mix Together

Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined. Do not overmix.

6

Fold in Jalapeños

Gently fold in the diced jalapeños until evenly distributed throughout the batter.

Baking

7

Pour Batter into Dish

Pour the cornbread batter into the prepared baking dish or skillet, spreading it evenly.

8

Bake

Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

9

Cool

Once baked, remove the cornbread from the oven and let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before slicing.
