Main Ingredients

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Rinse the Cranberries

Place the fresh cranberries in a colander and rinse them under cold water. Remove any stems or damaged cranberries.

  2. 2

    Combine Ingredients

In a medium saucepan, combine the rinsed cranberries, granulated sugar, water, orange zest, and orange juice.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Cook the Mixture

Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat while stirring occasionally until the sugar dissolves and the cranberries begin to pop, about 10 minutes.

  2. 4

    Simmer

Lower the heat and let the sauce simmer for another 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens to your desired consistency.

Cooling and Serving

  1. 5

    Cool the Sauce

Remove the saucepan from heat, and let the cranberry sauce cool to room temperature. It will thicken further as it cools.

  2. 6

    Serve or Store

Transfer the cranberry sauce to a serving bowl or airtight container. It can be served immediately or stored in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
