Preparation
- 1
Rinse the Cranberries
Place the fresh cranberries in a colander and rinse them under cold running water to remove any impurities.
- 2
Boil the Water
In a large pot, bring 4 cups of water to a boil over medium-high heat.
- 3
Add Cranberries
Once the water is boiling, add the rinsed cranberries to the pot. Stir and allow them to boil for about 10 minutes, until the cranberries burst and the mixture turns a deep red color.
- 4
Strain the Mixture
After the cranberries have burst, remove the pot from heat. Use a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth to strain the liquid into a large bowl or pitcher, discarding the solid cranberry skins.
- 5
Sweeten the Juice
While the juice is still warm, stir in the granulated sugar and honey until fully dissolved. Adjust sweetness to taste.
- 6
Add Optional Flavorings
If desired, add the fresh orange juice and lemon juice to the strained cranberry juice. Stir well to combine.
- 7
Cool the Juice
Allow the juice to cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.
Serving
- 8
Serve Chilled
Once chilled, pour the cranberry juice into glasses and serve over ice if desired. Enjoy your refreshing homemade cranberry juice!
