Method

Preparation

  1. 1

In a mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt until well combined.

  2. 2

In a separate bowl, combine the buttermilk, egg, and melted butter, mixing until smooth.

  3. 3

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; a few lumps are okay.

Cooking

  1. 4

Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat and add the butter or oil for greasing.

  2. 5

Once the skillet is hot, pour approximately 1/4 cup of batter onto the skillet for each pancake.

  3. 6

Cook until bubbles form on the surface of the pancake and the edges look set, about 2-3 minutes.

  4. 7

Flip the pancake and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes or until golden brown.

  5. 8

Remove the pancakes from the skillet and keep warm while you cook the remaining batter.

Serving

  1. 9

Serve the pancakes warm with your choice of toppings such as syrup, fresh fruit, or whipped cream.
