Method

Preparing the Burger Patty

  1. 1

    Mix Sausage

In a large mixing bowl, combine the Italian sausage, salt, and black pepper. Mix the ingredients well until fully incorporated.

  2. 2

    Form Patties

Divide the sausage mixture into four equal portions and shape them into patties, about 1-inch thick.

Grilling Vegetables

  1. 3

    Prepare Vegetables

Slice the bell peppers and onion into thin strips.

  2. 4

    Sauté Vegetables

Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced bell peppers and onions. Season with salt and black pepper. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes until they are softened and slightly caramelized.

Cooking the Burger

  1. 5

    Grill Patties

Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Cook the sausage patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until they are cooked through and have nice grill marks.

  2. 6

    Melt Cheese

In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of provolone cheese on each patty. Close the grill lid to allow the cheese to melt.

Assembling the Burger

  1. 7

    Prepare Rolls

Split the top of the rolls and lightly toast them on the grill for 1-2 minutes until golden brown.

  2. 8

    Assemble the Burger

Spread marinara sauce on the bottom half of each toasted roll. Place the grilled sausage patty with melted provolone on top, followed by a generous amount of the sautéed peppers and onions. Top with the other half of the roll.
