Steak Ingredients

Method

Steak Preparation

  1. 1

    Season the Steak

Rub the N.Y. Strip Steak with olive oil, ensuring it's well-coated on all sides.

  2. 2

    Add Seasoning

Sprinkle kosher salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and fresh rosemary (if using) generously over both sides of the steak. Press the seasoning into the meat.

Cooking the Steak

  1. 3

    Preheat the Grill or Pan

Preheat a grill or a heavy skillet over medium-high heat for about 5 minutes.

  2. 4

    Cook the Steak

Place the seasoned steak on the grill or skillet. Cook for approximately 4-5 minutes on one side, then flip and cook for an additional 4-5 minutes for medium-rare, or longer to reach desired doneness.

  3. 5

    Rest the Steak

Once cooked, remove the steak from the heat and let it rest on a cutting board for about 5 minutes before slicing.

Prepare the Side

  1. 6

    Prepare Asparagus and Tomatoes

While the steak is resting, wash the asparagus and cherry tomatoes. Trim the ends of the asparagus.

  2. 7

    Sauté the Vegetables

In the same skillet used for the steak (or a separate pan), add a little olive oil and sauté the asparagus for about 3-4 minutes. Add cherry tomatoes and cook until they start to blister. Season with salt, pepper, and balsamic vinegar.

Serving

  1. 8

    Plate the Dish

Slice the steak against the grain and serve it alongside the sautéed asparagus and cherry tomatoes. Enjoy!
