Method

For the Buttery Biscuits

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C).

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.

  3. 3

    Cut in Butter

Add the unsalted butter to the bowl and use a pastry cutter or your fingers to mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

  4. 4

    Add Milk

Pour in the milk and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.

  5. 5

    Shape Biscuits

Turn the dough onto a floured surface and gently knead 3-4 times. Pat the dough to about 1-inch thick. Cut out biscuits using a round cutter.

  6. 6

    Bake

Place the biscuits on a baking sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.

For the Sausage Gravy

  1. 7

    Cook Sausage

In a large skillet over medium heat, crumble and cook the breakfast sausage until browned, about 5-7 minutes.

  2. 8

    Add Flour

Sprinkle the flour over the sausage and stir well to combine. Cook for 1-2 minutes.

  3. 9

    Add Milk and Seasonings

Gradually whisk in the milk, stirring continuously until the gravy thickens. Season with black pepper and salt to taste.

For the Home Fries

  1. 10

    Prepare Potatoes

Wash and dice the potatoes into small cubes (about 1-inch).

  2. 11

    Cook Potatoes

In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced potatoes and cook for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  3. 12

    Add Vegetables

Add diced onion and bell pepper to the skillet. Cook for an additional 5-7 minutes, or until potatoes are tender and golden brown. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
