Method
Marinade Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Marinade
In a bowl, combine olive oil, lemon juice, minced garlic, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.
- 2
Marinate the Chicken
Place the chicken breasts in a resealable plastic bag or shallow dish. Pour the marinade over the chicken, ensuring it is well coated. Seal the bag or cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours for more flavor.
Grilling
- 3
Preheat the Grill
Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
- 4
Grill the Chicken
Remove the chicken from the marinade and discard any leftover marinade. Grill the chicken for 6-8 minutes on each side, or until fully cooked and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
- 5
Toast the Buns
During the last few minutes of grilling, place the burger buns cut side down on the grill and toast them until golden brown.
Sandwich Assembly
- 6
Assemble the Sandwich
Spread mayonnaise on the bottom half of each toasted bun. Place the grilled chicken on top, followed by lettuce, tomato slices, and cheese if using. Top with the other half of the bun.
- 7
Serve
Serve the sandwiches immediately while warm, with your choice of sides.
