Method

Preparation Instructions

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). This ensures that the cakes bake evenly and develop a gooey center.

  2. 2

    Prepare Ramekins

Grease four ramekins with butter and lightly dust with flour. This will help the cakes to release easily after baking.

  3. 3

    Melt Butter and Chocolate

In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the unsalted butter and semi-sweet chocolate. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until completely melted and smooth.

  4. 4

    Mix the Batter

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, eggs, egg yolks, and vanilla extract until well combined. Gradually add the melted chocolate mixture and mix until smooth. Fold in the flour and salt until just combined.

  5. 5

    Pour Batter into Ramekins

Evenly distribute the batter among the prepared ramekins, filling each about 3/4 full.

  6. 6

    Bake the Cakes

Place the ramekins on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for about 12-14 minutes, or until the edges are firm but the center remains soft.

  7. 7

    Cool Slightly

Remove the cakes from the oven and let them cool for 1 minute. Then, carefully run a knife around the edges to loosen.

  8. 8

    Serve

Invert each ramekin onto a plate and gently tap to release the cake. Dust with powdered sugar and serve immediately while warm for that gooey center.
