Method

Cake Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare two 9-inch round cake pans by greasing them and lining with parchment paper.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, unsweetened cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.

  3. 3

    Combine Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, whole milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract until smooth.

  4. 4

    Combine Mixtures

Gradually add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients, stirring just until combined. Be careful not to overmix.

  5. 5

    Add Boiling Water

Stir in the boiling water until the batter is smooth. The batter will be thin, which is normal.

  6. 6

    Pour Batter

Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans.

  7. 7

    Bake the Cakes

Bake in the preheated oven for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  8. 8

    Cool the Cakes

Once baked, remove the cakes from the oven and let them cool in the pans for about 10 minutes. Then, transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Frosting Preparation

  1. 9

    Make Frosting

In a medium bowl, combine the unsweetened cocoa powder, softened butter, powdered sugar, whole milk, and vanilla extract.

  2. 10

    Mix Until Smooth

Using an electric mixer, beat the mixture on medium speed until smooth and creamy, about 2-3 minutes.

  3. 11

    Frost the Cake

Once the cakes are completely cool, place one layer on a serving plate. Spread a layer of frosting on top, then place the second layer over the frosting and frost the top and sides.

  4. 12

    Serve

Slice the cake and serve it to enjoy your delicious chocolate fudge cake!
